Boarding program evaluation and school choice is a major family decision. Making the right choice will first involve understanding your child's needs and your family's values, as well as, expectations. The examination of school features must take place. We often hear some questions, while prospective parents and students make their decision regarding the school.

Q. How many students attend Leysin Switzerland Boarding School?
A. Around 350, approximately, 55%-girls and 45% - boys.
 
Q. What are the average dorm room size, furnishings and roommate options?
A. All of our dorms were newly renovated in 2006. The rooms are shared by 2-3 students. The space is more than adequate with hardwood furniture reflecting the Swiss Alps culture.

Q. Are Advanced Placement credits offered?
A. Yes, but limited. Our school focuses on the IB Diploma and therefore our highest level courses are IB HL. These classes qualify for credits at many universities.

Q. Are Leysin Boarding School students involved in community service?
A. Yes, collectively during our Earth Day activities. You can build houses for families in need on our Habitat for Humanity trips throughout Europe. Junior and senior students are required to do community service for the IB Diploma.

Q. Is there admission test?
A. No. However, there are Placement tests in Math, English, Languages and Science which you will take on-campus after you have been accepted during our Orientation Week.

Q. Do you have a wait list at Leysin Switzerland Boarding School?
A. We are approaching our school capacity and form a waiting list by May 1st.

Q. When is the best time to visit the Boarding School?
A. We welcome you at any season at any time.

Q. Does Leysin Boarding School have a religious affiliation?
A. No. We have students from over 20 different religions and we are committed to a community that supports and respects religious freedom.

Q. Where is Leysin and how many people live there?
A. It is an alpine village, which has a ski resort in the town. It is located in the mountains, looking over the northwest end of Lake Geneva. We share Leysin with about 3,000 local residents. During the ski season we welcome about 7,000 more people to our mountains to ski.

Q. How do I get to the school?
A. Walk in most places. We are in a small community and our campus is closely connected. We do have taxis, if necessary.

Q. Is Leysin Switzerland Boarding School accredited?
A. We are accredited by the European Council of Independent Schools.

Q. What a typical, boarding day is going to be?
A. Wake up and showers at 6.30 AM. Breakfast at 7 AM. Seven different classes. Rich activities in the afternoon. Home works in the evenings. We consider it a simple, but effective boarding model.
