Subjects to study

Our English teachers have a mission to develop listening and understanding skills of our students. We aim to give the undergraduate an opportunity to participate in School Community by speaking the language. The classes and Switzerland boarding school subjects include poetry, plays and novel reading, analysis, interpretation and discussions, as well as listening exercises regarding concrete topic and essays writing.

We strongly believe that non-native English speakers do not have abilities to compete with mother tongue speakers in specific subjects. For this reason we provide English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for subjects such as Integrated Science, World Geography, US/World History, Biology, Theory of Knowledge and Literature. As soon as ESL student’s English abilities increase, he or she joins the main stream courses.

Modern language subjects Switzerland boarding school offers the development of French, Spanish or German comprehension, reading, speaking and writing skills. We aim to introduce the culture and the life-style studies in combination to language learning. The digital system laboratories assist in reaching modern language teaching goals. Our boarding School has a task to provide balanced program of social studies, which consists of history, geography, economics, business and humanities.

The scientific literacy is developed in theoretical principals’ appliance, laboratory experience and working in field. We provide our students with the foundation of science, in order they could participate in nowadays technological society. Mathematics and computer sciences subject aims to be used in every day lives. We use mathematics in situations when calculated problem solving and well reasoned presentation is required.

Fine art subjects prepare students to appreciate and enjoy visual and performing arts. Students make art exhibitions, theater productions, and music and dance performances. Leysin School offers a variety of ways to learn about yourself and beautiful world around. Our teachers are practicing artists.
